The state will soon have an 'AVGC XR' policy

Panaji:
Considering the momentum that the AVGC XR sector has gained in the last few years, the Union Government, headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has recently formulated the country’s AVGC XR policy. In line with this, Goa should have its own AVGC XR policy. A special committee will be constituted on behalf of the Goa State AVGC XR Association to formulate a ‘Goa AVGC XR’ policy, with concrete ideas for the artistic and commercial future of the state. The said policy will then be submitted to the state government, making it easier for the government to frame policies for the AVGC XR industry in Goa, asserted Goa AVGC XR Association president and renowned Filmmaker Tapan Acharya. He was speaking after the first general meeting of the Goa AVGC XR organization, formed under his chairmanship.

On this occasion, the founding executive board of the ‘Goa AVGC XR’ organization assumed office. The event was attended by President Tapan Acharya, Vice President Kishor Arjun, Secretary Rohit Khandekar, Treasurer Jitendra Shikerkar, Joint Secretary Vinay Bhat, and Executive Members Vineet Kundaikar, Pradyumanya Naik, Yogiraj Bhangle, among others.

In Goa, AVGC XR encompasses the animation, VFX, gaming, comics, and extended reality industries. The AVGC XR organization will actively prioritize and empower local artists, outlining its future initiatives during the meeting.

To promote youth-attractive arts like animation and gaming and raise awareness of important experiments being conducted in the AVGC XR field worldwide among both the young and the elderly in Goa, it is essential to organize an animation film festival in the state. Therefore, the organization plans to host an animation film festival in Goa soon.

‘Striving for a Center of Excellence in the State:
The Union Cabinet has recently approved the National Center for Excellence in AVGC XR. Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced this a few days ago. In this context, President Tapan Acharya noted during the meeting that the organization will make all possible efforts to establish the ‘Center of Excellence’ in Goa. Considering the opportunities for industry expansion soon, as well as Goa’s appeal in the international film sector, this ‘Center of Excellence’ aims to create significant opportunities for the artistic community in Goa. Consequently, Goa is poised to become the hub of AVGC XR in the country. The members believed that it could emerge as a major center in this sector.
