Abhishek Bachchan’s ‘Ghoomer’ is ready to release on ‘this’ OTT
Abhishek Bachchan-starrer ‘Ghoomer’ is all set to release on the OTT platform after its theatrical run. The movie received positive feedback from the audience and got rave reviews from Bollywood celebs and critics but struggled to perform well at the box office. ‘Ghoomer’ revolves around Anina, a young batting prodigy, who loses her right hand in an accident. Her life gets a new hope when she meets a failed cricketer, who becomes her coach.
‘Ghoomer’ will be released on Zee5 on November 10, 2023.
Announcing the OTT release of ‘Ghoomer’, Abhishek wrote on Instagram, “The pitch is ready! Are you? Cricket is being Ghoomered this season with #GhoomerOnZEE5 #Ghoomer, premieres 10th Nov.”
Apart from Abhishek Bachchan, ‘Ghoomer’ also stars Saiyami Kher in the lead role with Amitabh Bachchan in a cameo role.
Talking about the plot and deciding the release date of ‘Ghoomer’, Abhishek Bachchan told ETimes, “I’ve never looked at ‘Ghoomer’ as a sports film. For me, it is a very inspirational film which is all heart. When we were discussing the release strategy and when we decided that we were releasing it in theatres on August 18, several people told us ‘no’. They said it is just these larger-than-life, event films that are drawing the audiences into the cinemas.”
“For me, the emotion, the hope and the heart is the event of the film. Balki has pitched it at a scale where it is a theatrical experience. Not just the last half an hour or 40 minutes, which is, if I may say so, mind-blowing. When I was watching it at the mix, I was actually standing up, clapping and crying in the last half an hour, and 40 minutes. That aided us in believing that it was a theatrical film. But for me, the larger-than-life aspect of the film isn’t an event, isn’t an action piece. It is the heart and emotion. I came out of this film, with a smile on my lips and a tear in my eye. That’s also what cinema is about,” he added.
Directed by R Balki, the movie also stars Shabana Azmi and Angad Bedi in supporting roles.
